Back To The Grind

After taking a week-long break from my project, I finally felt like playing some poker last night. I've decided to start off slowly to keep myself from tilting, so I've only played a few hands.
The last couple of weeks have just been one bad news after another, so pretty much anything will send me on a horrible tilt.

When I started playing yesterday, the project was at $26.43. And I did make a small step in the right direction, ending the day up a "massive" 12 cents. Sometimes it feels a bit silly counting each cent, but with such a small bankroll, every penny counts.

Today started off with even more bad news. It's getting a bit ridiculous by now. But the good thing is that I still felt like playing, mostly to distract myself :)

And thanks to the hand above, the project is now at $28.57. I'm not quite sure if I played the hand correctly though. Maybe I should have been worried about a set?

My thinking was that with his 3-bet, although small, he must have a really good hand. I ranged him at AKo, KK, QQ, JJ. And I was not worried about anything worse than pocket 10s. So imagine my surprise when he showed his hand. Did not see that one coming. He's definitely in the #IHateFolding club.

I think that was all the poker I have time for today. Enjoy your weekend, and best of luck at the tables!

The $100 Project Is Cancelled

Lately I haven't played as much poker as I would have liked. Actually, I haven't played any poker in almost a week, which is really weird. And the last time I played, I was not paying any attention to the action on the table. Just check out the hand above: Why didn't I shove on that river?!

Since work and life has gotten in the way, I decided to cancel the staked $100 project. It's just not fair to play for someone else's money when I'm not giving it my A-game. So I decided that the best thing was to send the money back. I really do appreciate the opportunity, now has just been such a bad time for me.

But I have taken a log of  time talking to other poker players, watch them play, asking questions, watching Youtube-videos and reading articles. I want to be ready to hit the tables again soon. First I need to unclutter my mind :)

And thank you to those of you who are there helping me, always encouraging me and answering my silly questions. You know who you are :)

Poker is a game of both luck and skill. And it requires you to be in control of your emotions. Lately I have been bringing my emotions to the game. I can pretty much feel the monkey tilts building even when I'm away from the table.

I promise that I'll be back soon, and my goal is to get the $13.08 project up to at least $200 by the end of this year. Hopefully life will start to get better soon :)

Until next time: Good luck at the tables. Find me if you are playing and want someone railing you or want to talk poker!

Should Have Folded...

Check out the hand above. I'm in the BB with KTo. Everyone folds around to SB who makes a pretty standard raise. The flop, J9J gives me a straight draw.
We both check (should have been a warning sign...)

The Q on the turn gives me a straight, but Villain raises. Instead of folding, I re-raise. And then I call when he goes all in on J river.

Looking back it is so obvious that he had a Jack or a Queen. Hopefully I did learn something from this hand. I should be made an honorary of the #IHateFolding club, because I seriously hate folding a good hand.

Made another bad mistake in this hand. Here I should have given up when my flush draw didn't come through.

End of day status is, Project A is up 44 cents to $29.26, and Project B is down to $78.95. It's really time to turn it around and to get my act together. I get really mad at myself for making silly mistakes and bad decisions like the ones above. Something that in turn affects my mindset and my play. It's a vicious circle.

But to end on a positive note, I did get back some of the money I lost. Like on this hand:

Good Timing Goes A Long Way

So I didn't have much time for any poker today, but signed up for one of my usual freerolls thinking that I'd probably get knocked out early or barely make it into the money which is normally about 1h15min into the game.

Since I really didn't have time to play for hours I made a pretty deep run. By the time there were about 200 players left out of the 14,828, I had to sit out and just let it run its course. That sucked, because at the time I was number 79 out of 200 with a decent stack.

One of the hands that got me there was the one above. KTs vs LAG player in the BB. I felt very confidente that my hand beat his range. So I just let him do the betting before hitting the all in button on the river. I haven't got a clue what he had since he actually folded even though my bet was tiny compared to the pot size. But he certainly did believe me :)

I wish I could have finished the tournament and not have to sit out. One of these days I will make the final table of that freeroll. This time I got a "huge" $1.58 reward for 3 hours of play, lol. Still, it makes a difference in my BR.

Hope you guys had a good run at the tables today. I'll be playing som cash games tomorrow, something that really excites me because I got some great advice from a couple of my Twitter followers today. Can't wait to try it out and start grinding up again :)

#IHateFolding

My original project, project A, is down to $26.91 today after the hand above. When the Villain 3bets, I'm pretty sure he either has pocket Aces or pocket Kings, so why on earth am I not able to let it go. Yes, I did have a straight draw and a flush draw. But is not as though pockets Js is a fantastic hand. When will I learn? :)

Did get some of my chips back from the hand below.

Short Introduction

BR development for Project A

Since I'm starting a second bankroll project today, I decided to start a poker blog to make it easier to keep up with my progress. And here it is. Nothing fancy, but hopefully I'll be able to share a bit more information than in those 140 character tweets.

So, who am I? Just a girl who stumbled across poker quite by chance, and who ended up loving it. I started playing a few freerolls about 2 years ago. I was researching some poker terms for my job, and figured that the best way to understand the game was by playing. Guess who got hooked.

Over the first year and a half I mostly played freerolls before deciding to try my hands at micro stakes MTTs. I did okay, learnt along the way. And so far my proudest moment was when I placed 82nd in the Big 11 on Pokerstars.

After transferring some funds to a friend, I completely lost track of my profits. I do think I was about $100 in plus, but honestly have no idea. So I decided to start a BR building project with what I had left in my account: A whooping 13 dollars and 8 cents.

I have focused on playing 2NL cash games, learning along the way. And for I while I felt like I had the hang of it. But this project (project A) has had its ups and downs, lately mostly downs. I was close to $50 for a while, but at the moment I'm down to a measly $28.03.

And today I'm excited to announce that I'm starting a second project (Project B). Which kindly has been staked by one of my Twitter followers. Here I'll start out at the 5NL tables and try to work my way up. 50% of the earnings will be kept to build my bankroll.

I am stoked, and a bit nervous. I really hope that I'll do well, and give him a nice return on income.

Along the way I'll try to update the blog with some hand history, and other poker related things.
